Before leaping into your career at CDW, take inventory of where you are at personally and professionally. Reflect on your strengths, interests and values. What do you want to gain from your career right now, and what do you want to achieve in the future?
Gather evidence, such as awards and accomplishments, and reflect on projects that highlight your strengths. Focus on experiences and interests that are unique to you – they are what differentiates you from everyone else. How will you ultimately make your team stronger when you come on board?
While CDW’s hiring process varies slightly across different teams, there are some consistencies you can expect from the hiring process. Our interview process focuses on questions around situational, behavioural-based, or technical situations, depending on the role you are applying for. The best way to approach this interview process is to formulate your answers by using the STAR Method (Situation, Task, Action and Result).
Here’s what our process looks like:
A: Connect what you know about yourself to the role you’re applying for. If you can specifically state how the role aligns with your long-term vision, that will go a long way towards differentiating yourself.
Even better if you can point to a specific reason why you want to work at CDW. Ask questions of us that show you’ve thought about the role and are interested in making sure we match what you are looking for.
A: Having a LinkedIn profile that doesn’t match their resume. A good resume is one that is customized for each position and highlights the skills and keywords that match the job description.
While they don’t need to match exactly, the information on your LinkedIn profile and resume should align.
A: Leverage your network! Chances are, you know someone who works at CDW or has had experience here. Reach out to friends, family and former colleagues and find ways to expand your network.
